Terms & Conditions
Version: v2-2026-09-20
1. What GadVerify is
GadVerify is a device intelligence and business management platform. It has two sides: a public service anyone can use to check whether a device (by IMEI, IMEI2, or serial number) has been reported lost, missing, or stolen, and report one if it has been; and a subscription service for phone and gadget businesses covering inventory, point of sale, staff management, and warranty and service tracking. These Terms apply to both.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least the minimum age required by our registration process to create an account. The public device check itself requires no account and no age verification. A business account additionally requires that the account owner has legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement on behalf of that business.
3. The public device check
Checking a device's status never requires an account. A check returns a confidence tiered result (no match, possible match, or confirmed match) without revealing the identity, contact details, or any private information of the party who filed the report. You may not use the check tool to harass, dox, or attempt to identify a reporting party, and you may not automate bulk lookups outside normal use (rate limits apply).
4. Reporting a device
Filing a lost, missing, or stolen report requires payment of a report fee plus a recovery-reward deposit you choose, both paid upfront through our payment provider, Paystack, before your report is reviewed or becomes searchable — see our Refund Policy for the current fee, the reward minimum, and exactly how the fee and reward are each treated. The public device check described in section 3 above remains free and requires no account; this payment requirement applies only to filing a report, not to checking one.
Filing a report also requires accurate information to the best of your knowledge. Knowingly filing a false report is a misuse of the service and may result in the report being removed (without a refund of the report fee) and your account, if any, being suspended. A report generates a reference number usable to check status without an account.
Safety expectation: if the platform helps you locate a possible match for a lost or stolen device, do not attempt to confront, detain, or personally recover the device from whoever currently holds it. Use the in platform dispute and recovery workflow, or involve local law enforcement. GadVerify is a matching and information service, not a recovery or security service, and is not responsible for what happens in a physical encounter arranged outside the platform.
5. Your account and how you sign in
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure, whether that's a password, "Continue with Google," or a passkey tied to your device. You must notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization. If you sign in with Google, you are also subject to Google's own terms for that service. A passkey is tied to the specific device that created it; if you lose access to that device, you can sign in another way (password, or a different registered passkey) and manage your passkeys from Account Settings.
6. Business accounts and subscriptions
A business account is for a registered phone or gadget business and its staff. The account owner is responsible for the accuracy of the business's own data (inventory, pricing, sales, customer records, payroll) and for controlling which employees have access to which features, using the platform's built in role and permission system. Paid subscription plans are billed as described at signup; a plan's price, features, and employee or device limits are shown before you subscribe and may change with notice. Payment is processed by a third party payment provider; GadVerify does not store your card details.
Billing period: a subscription covers a fixed period (monthly or yearly, as chosen at signup) and does not automatically charge you again at the end of that period. Continued access after a period ends requires a new payment. We do not currently offer a separate cancellation step because there is nothing to cancel: simply not renewing ends your paid access at the end of the period you already paid for.
7. Data you put into the business platform
Sales, inventory, customer, and staff data you enter belongs to your business. Other businesses on the platform cannot see your inventory, sales figures, customer list, or staff records; the only thing ever shared across businesses is a stolen device flag and enough detail (brand and model, confidence tier) for another business to recognize it, never your business's identity or transaction amounts.
8. Flagging a device as stolen (business side)
A business owner may flag a specific unit in their own inventory as stolen. Doing so is a factual claim by that business and is treated the same way a public stolen report is: it feeds the same central verification check, it can be seen in redacted form by anyone checking that device, and it must be accurate. Only the business owner, not staff, can create or clear this flag, and clearing it goes through the same review based recovery process as a public report.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the platform to facilitate the sale of a device you know to be stolen; attempt to circumvent rate limits, permission checks, or business data isolation; scrape or bulk extract data; interfere with or attempt to disrupt the platform's normal operation; or use another business's or user's account without authorization.
10. Termination
You may close your account at any time. GadVerify may suspend or terminate an account for violation of these Terms, including false reports, fraud, or attempts to breach other businesses' data. Historical transaction and audit records are retained after account closure as described in the Privacy Policy, for legal, financial, and dispute resolution reasons.
11. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
Device verification results reflect what has been reported to GadVerify and are not a guarantee that a device is or is not stolen. A device may be stolen without ever being reported, or a report may later prove mistaken. GadVerify is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, GadVerify is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from reliance on a verification result, a business transaction conducted through the platform, or a physical encounter arranged outside it.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold GadVerify harmless from any claim arising from your misuse of the platform, a false report you knowingly filed, or your violation of these Terms.
13. Changes to these Terms
Material changes are recorded as a new version, shown above. Continuing to use the platform after a new version is published, or explicitly re-accepting it where prompted, constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the platform is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
