Refund Policy
Version: v3-2026-09-20
1. What this policy covers
How payments to GadVerify are handled: business subscription payments, one-time fees such as a paid detailed device verification or a business's purchase of additional stolen-device-report allowance, and paid stolen-device reporting. It does not cover disputes between a business and its own customers over a sale made through the platform — that is between the business and its customer, using that business's own return and refund practices, not GadVerify's.
2. Payments this policy applies to
- Subscription payments: the monthly or yearly fee a business pays for platform access, as described in our Terms & Conditions, section 6.
- One-time fees: a paid detailed device verification check on the public side, and a business's purchase of additional stolen-device-report allowance beyond what its current plan includes.
- Paid stolen-device reporting: the report fee and recovery-reward deposit paid when filing a lost/missing/stolen device report (Terms & Conditions, section 4). Its refund treatment is different from every other payment on this page — see section 3 below.
All payments are processed by our third-party payment provider, Paystack. GadVerify does not store your full card details.
3. Paid stolen-device reporting: fee vs. reward
Filing a report requires paying a report fee (currently ₦2,000, admin-configurable) plus a recovery-reward deposit you choose, with a minimum of ₦5,000. These two amounts are charged together but treated completely differently, and neither is covered by section 4's "all sales are final" rule below in the way you might expect a one-time fee to be:
- The report fee is earned immediately and is never refunded, under any outcome — recovered, not recovered, withdrawn, or rejected on review. It covers the report and its verification, work that happens regardless of how the case ends.
- The reward deposit is held, not spent. It is never released to GadVerify and never simply kept as revenue. It has exactly two possible outcomes:
- Recovery confirmed: the full reward amount you deposited is released to whoever's business found and returned your device, paid out through that business's own referral-reward payout process (OTP-verified, to their registered bank account).
- You withdraw the report without a recovery (for example, you found the device yourself): you explicitly close your own report from the report status page, verified by a one-time code sent to the email you reported with. The reward deposit is refunded to you in full. The report fee is not affected either way.
There is no other way to get the reward deposit back, and no partial release of it — it is either paid to a confirmed finder in full or refunded to you in full on withdrawal.
4. All other sales are final
Subscription payments and one-time fees (other than the reward deposit described in section 3 above) are non-refundable once paid. This applies regardless of how much of a subscription period you've used, and regardless of whether you've used a one-time-fee service (a paid detailed verification, for example) at all. Simply changing your mind, deciding not to use the platform, or forgetting to cancel before renewal is not a basis for a refund.
The one exception is a genuine billing or system error on our side, described in section 5 below — and even then, the remedy is account credit, not a cash refund.
5. Billing or system errors: account credit
If you believe you were charged incorrectly because of an error on GadVerify's side — for example, a duplicate charge for the same subscription period, a charge that doesn't match your actual plan price, or a one-time fee charged for a service that never actually ran due to a fault on our side — you may report it for review. This is the only circumstance in which any compensation is issued for a payment other than the section 3 reward deposit.
- How to report it: contact us using the details on our Contact page with the payment date, the amount charged, and what you believe went wrong.
- How it's verified: we check your account's billing and subscription records against what Paystack's own transaction record shows was actually charged, to confirm whether a genuine error occurred on our side, as opposed to a charge that matches what you actually subscribed to or purchased.
- The remedy: a confirmed billing or system error is corrected as account credit applied to your GadVerify subscription — not a cash refund back to your card or bank account through Paystack or any other method. Credit is applied to your account and reduces what you owe on a future subscription payment; it is not transferable and has no separate cash value.
6. Cancellation: no proration, no partial refund for unused time
As described in our Terms & Conditions, section 6, a subscription covers a fixed period you've already paid for. If you cancel or simply choose not to renew:
- You keep full access to the platform for the rest of the period you already paid for — cancelling doesn't cut off access immediately.
- Once that period ends, access ends. There is no prorated or partial refund for whatever time you didn't end up using, whether you cancelled on day one of the period or the day before it ended.
7. Your data after cancellation
Cancelling or not renewing never deletes or alters your business's data. Your inventory, sales, staff, and customer records remain exactly as they were; subscribing again restores full access to the same data. See our Data Retention page for exactly how long data is kept, including what happens if the account is later closed rather than simply left unrenewed.
8. Declined, failed, and disputed transactions
A payment that was declined or failed at the payment provider was never successfully charged — there is nothing to reverse and no credit to issue, since no payment ever completed. If you see a pending or completed charge on your statement that does not match an active subscription or purchase in your account, contact us before initiating a chargeback with your bank or card issuer, so we can investigate and resolve it directly where possible.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version that applied at the time of your payment is the one that governs how a billing-error report or report-withdrawal relating to that payment is handled.
10. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
